LIC Names Sonija M.S. as Chief (I/C) of Finance & Accounts

LIC Elevates Sonija M.S. to Chief (I/C) of Finance & Accounts
Life Insurance Corporation of India has re-designated Sonija M.S., currently Chief (Taxation Cell) at the Central Office in Mumbai, as Chief (I/C) of Finance & Accounts at the Central Office. The move, effective October 08, 2026, places her squarely within the Corporation’s Senior Management Personnel cadre and signals a continuity-driven push to consolidate core financial functions under a seasoned internal leader.

Ms. Sonija M.S. joined LIC in 1993 as a Direct Recruit Officer and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Over a three-decade career with LIC, she has headed Finance and Accounts, Debt & Project portfolio and stressed assets in Investment, while also gaining exposure to Claims, Office Services and Personnel departments. Her experience includes an earlier stint in the Insurance Ombudsman office as Secretary, where she helped steer resolution of disputes in insurance claim settlements. Before taking over as Chief (In-charge) of Finance & Accounts at Central Office, she had been handling Taxation, Income tax, GST and Provident Fund Trust in a leadership capacity.

The internal shift underscores LIC’s emphasis on strengthening its in-house finance and taxation leadership at the central level. By folding taxation and finance leadership more closely under one senior executive, the corporation signals a commitment to integrated financial governance, policy implementation, and risk management—areas central to LIC’s scale and public mandate. In an organization of LIC’s breadth, such moves are a reminder that leadership depth often comes from within, anchored by decades of domain experience and a steady hand overseeing complex financial functions.
