Coforge Limited is strengthening its governance chorus with the appointment of Akhil Kumar Gupta as an Additional Director and Non-Executive Independent Director, who will also serve as Chairperson of the Board. The move, approved by the Board at its meeting on September 28, 2026, sets the stage for a five-year term beginning September 29, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. The company noted that Gupta is not debarred from holding the office of Director by SEBI or any other authority, underscoring a governance-forward stance as Coforge plots its next growth leg.
Gupta arrives with a deep reservoir of leadership experience across Indian business and industry ecosystems. He is the former Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, where he helped steer growth from the company’s inception. He currently chairs the boards of 360 ONE WAM Ltd and Bharti Life Insurance Ltd and sits on the boards of Zepto, Snapdeal, Eutelsat Communications and Lodha Developers. A Chartered Accountant with more than four decades in the profession, Gupta has also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and has been recognized with multiple industry awards for entrepreneurship and contribution to infrastructure and telecom development. His publication, Some Sizes Fit All, has been released by Penguin Random House.
Coforge’s leadership ecosystem is poised to benefit from Gupta’s broad governance experience and strategic advisory credentials as it continues to navigate a tech-driven landscape. The appointment, while contingent on shareholder consent, signals the company’s intent to anchor its board with seasoned oversight and a chair who brings cross-sector insight from technology, finance, and consumer platforms.
