Ashiana Housing Re-appoints Independent Director Krishna Moraje

Ashiana Housing Limited said on Thursday that its board has approved the re-appointment of Krishna Suraj Moraje as an Independent Director for a five-year term, subject to the approval of shareholders at the upcoming General Meeting. The decision was taken at a board meeting held on 11 August 2026, signaling a continuation of governance oversight as the company charts its next growth phase.

Moraje brings a blend of entrepreneurship, corporate leadership, and strategic consulting to Ashiana’s board. He is the founder of Eka Fellowship, India’s first longitudinal school-to-work program, and founder of Beyond Trees, a land restoration venture. He previously served as CEO of Quess Corp, a USD 2 billion listed company with hundreds of thousands of employees, where he led a broad transformation. Earlier in his career, Moraje spent two decades at McKinsey & Company, helping establish the firm’s African Tech, Media and Telecom practices and managing its Philippines office. He holds a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from NIT Surat and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, and has earned several recognitions including the IIMA Young Alumni Achiever Award and a fellowship with the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

Ashiana noted that Moraje satisfies independence criteria under applicable corporate law and listing requirements, and that he is not debarred from holding director’s office by SEBI or similar authorities. By adding an independent voice with global leadership experience, the board aims to reinforce governance and strategic oversight as the company pursues its long-term objectives. The appointment is contingent on member approval at the General Meeting, underscoring the ongoing emphasis on stakeholder consent in governance decisions.

Market watchers will be watching the General Meeting to see if this continuity in board leadership gains formal endorsement from shareholders, reinforcing Ashiana’s governance framework as it advances its plans for growth and stakeholder value.
