ABDL names Bikram Basu as Group Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer amid leadership realignment

Allied Blenders and Distillers Limited unveiled a top-tier leadership shuffle, naming Bikram Basu as Group Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer and SMP, effective August 1, 2026. In a move that reinforces internal succession planning, Basu will also continue to oversee operations at ABD Maestro Private Limited, the company’s subsidiary, as part of a broader internal reorganization.

Bikram Basu arrives at this expanded role with a long arc in the spirits industry. He started his career with United Spirits for six years, spent 14 years at Pernod Ricard India, and has spent close to 11 years with ABD, taking on leadership roles in business and brand strategy, marketing and sales. His deep imprint on market-leading brands and his long-standing involvement with the industry body CIABC—where he has served on the board and as Vice-Chairman—underscore his prominence in the sector. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur, and a certification in Executive Development from INSEAD.

In parallel, Dr. Pradipta Basu, who had been appointed Chief Marketing Officer and SMP of the Company on April 15, 2026, will cease to be classified as an SMP with effect from July 31, 2026, though he will continue in his role as Chief Marketing Officer. The shift signals a consolidation of the group’s marketing leadership under Basu and a realignment of reporting lines as ABDL intensifies its focus on marketing and innovation across its brands and markets.

The Board’s decision reflects Allied Blenders and Distillers’ broader strategy to strengthen its growth engine through sharper marketing execution and product innovation, reinforcing the company’s ambitions in a dynamic beverages landscape.
