IRCTC reshapes leadership as Sanjay Kumar Jain steps down; Rahul Himalian takes on Chairman & Managing Director role

IRCTC, the railway catering and tourism arm, is announcing a leadership transition that will reshape its top tier. Sanjay Kumar Jain steps down from the post of Chairman and Managing Director, effective July 20, 2026. The move follows prior communications in June and mid-July, signaling a planned governance transition at the company.

Rahul Himalian, who currently serves as Director (Tourism & Marketing), has assumed the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director from July 20, 2026, while retaining his existing duties. This consolidation places the tourism and marketing leadership at the helm of the company’s strategic direction, ensuring continuity as IRCTC presses forward with its integrated hospitality and rail-tourism agenda.

The leadership shift aligns with IRCTC’s ongoing emphasis on expanding its tourism portfolio, strengthening marketing partnerships, and enhancing guest experiences across its hospitality, catering, and travel services. With Himalian stepping into the Chairman and Managing Director role, IRCTC signals a concerted push to translate its rail-based tourism ambitions into tangible, customer-focused initiatives while navigating the evolving landscape of travel and hospitality in India.
