Vivek Nishant Nath appointed Director (Commercial) on NMDC Board

NMDC Limited has announced the appointment of Vivek Nishant Nath as Director (Commercial) on the NMDC Board for a five-year term from 15 July 2026, marking a notable addition to the company’s executive leadership. The move comes in line with a government instruction issued on 14 July 2026 and signals NMDC’s intent to sharpen its commercial strategy as India’s largest iron ore producer.

Vivek Nishant Nath brings more than three decades of experience in sales and marketing, international commercial operations, procurement, logistics and supply chain management. An alumnus of IIT (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, he began his professional journey with NMDC in 1992 and has since held senior commercial roles with Essar Steel and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India. In 2021, he joined Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC) as General Manager (Sales & Marketing), and was promoted to Chief General Manager (Sales & Marketing) in 2024, overseeing sales and marketing across iron ore, chrome ore, manganese ore, bauxite, limestone and ferrochrome.

During his tenure at OMC, Nath led efforts that helped drive growth in iron ore sales and revenue through customer-centric initiatives, transparent pricing, digital transformation and logistics reforms. Under his leadership, iron ore sales at OMC rose from 12.33 million tonnes in FY 2020-21 to 38.26 million tonnes in FY 2025-26. He is also a prolific industry voice, having authored more than 11 research papers on mining and metals and speaking at national and international forums.

The appointment of Nath to NMDC’s Board as Director (Commercial) is expected to bolster the company’s commercial capabilities and market-oriented strategy, reinforcing NMDC’s growth agenda in iron ore and allied sectors as it navigates a dynamic global metals landscape.
