Axis Bank announced that the Board, on the recommendations of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Audit Committee, has approved the appointment of Rajeev Mantri as Chief Financial Officer and a Key Managerial Personnel, with effect from September 28, 2026. He will be part of the bank’s senior management.
Mantri, 49, is a seasoned financial services leader with nearly three decades of experience across banking, financial services, credit information, consumer goods and international financial institutions. He currently serves as Executive President and Chief Financial Officer at Bandhan Bank, where he leads all aspects of finance and strategy across a 150+ member team spanning financial planning and analysis, accounting, controls, reporting, balance sheet, capital and cost management, tax, procurement, payments and investor relations. He has built a career across leading global and Indian banks including Citibank, Standard Chartered and Mashreq, in India, Singapore and the UAE. A Chartered Accountant from ICAI and holder of a Global Executive MBA from INSEAD, Singapore, Mantri is recognized for driving strategic planning, governance and robust financial controls.
The appointment underscores Axis Bank’s emphasis on strengthening its financial leadership to support its growth and transformation agenda, drawing on Mantri’s deep experience in banking finance, regulatory engagement and business transformation.
The move comes after the bank had earlier disclosed the resignation of Puneet Sharma as Chief Financial Officer. With the board’s approval, Mantri is slated to assume the CFO role and further fortify the bank’s financial leadership as it navigates its next phase.
