Karnataka Bank appoints Biji Sreekrishnavilas Sankaranarayanan as Executive Director

Karnataka Bank has announced the elevation of Biji Sreekrishnavilas Sankaranarayanan to the role of Executive Director, with effect from July 15, 2026. The move follows her earlier appointment as an Additional Director designated as a Whole Time Director, taking charge as Executive Director on the date she assumed office. The bank also confirmed that she has assumed the status of a Key Managerial Personnel as of today, July 15, 2026.

Sankaranarayanan is described as a strategic banking leader with 31 years of end-to-end experience spanning corporate banking, retail and branch banking, liabilities, secured assets, transformation and digital modernization. She has a track record of overseeing nationwide networks, scaling corporate banking verticals, strengthening risk frameworks, improving asset quality, and architecting digital and operational turnarounds. Her leadership is framed as a driver of enterprise-wide profitability and a robust governance posture.

Her academic background combines strong quantitative and human capital credentials: a Post Graduate degree in Mathematics, an MBA in HR, and a Professional Certification in Management of Social Initiatives from IIM Kozhikode. The three-year term as Executive Director underscores a period of continuity and focused execution for the bank’s strategic agenda, including compliance architecture, leadership development, and transformational growth.
