SAIL has named T. N. Natarajan as Executive Director (Commercial), effective March 19, 2026, signaling a renewed push on the PSU’s market-led agenda. The appointment follows government nomination and board approval, underscoring a continuity-driven leadership strategy as the steel giant sharpens its focus on customer-centric growth and commercial execution.
Natarajan brings more than three decades of diversified experience to the role. Since joining SAIL in 1993 as a Management Trainee at Bhilai Steel Plant, he has traversed Production, Logistics and Sales, with a track record of strengthening market engagement and channel development. His stint across the Central Marketing Organisation in Bengaluru, Chennai and Trichy is highlighted by contracts won, infrastructure developments, and a notable achievement in securing ISO 14001 environmental certification for a SAIL warehouse. As Western Region head from 2022, he championed initiatives aimed at expanding market share in states like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, while cultivating a high-performing marketing team.
Natarajan is credited with steering a shift from commodity-based selling to a more solution-oriented approach. Under his leadership, SAIL launched innovative customer-centric service models, including the first Ready-to-Use TMT Service Centre at Kalamboli, and intensified branding and distribution efforts. His emphasis on talent development, market research, and leadership development within the regional teams has been cited as a key driver of growth and improved customer loyalty, positioning SAIL to compete more effectively in legacy and high-margin segment play across Fabrication, Earthmoving Equipment and related sectors.
