ONGC appoints Vinod Seshan as Government Nominee Director on its Board

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited has named Vinod Seshan as Government Nominee Director on its board, effective March 9, 2026, for a three-year term or until further orders. He joins the board from the Government of India, where he serves as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, signaling a continued alignment between public policy priorities and the strategic direction of India’s energy champion.

Seshan is an Indian Administrative Service officer from the 2008 batch, Assam Cadre, with more than two decades of experience spanning policy making, infrastructure project management, district administration and crisis response. Educationally, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University and a Master’s degree in Public Policy with special focus on Infrastructure, Investments and Finance from University College London. His blend of technical grounding, policy insight and on-ground project experience is poised to contribute a distinct perspective to ONGC’s governance as it navigates large-scale energy initiatives and sustainability-driven growth.

This appointment reinforces ONGC’s governance framework by bringing in a government-nominated director with a track record in policy execution and infrastructure financing, at a time when public-private collaboration remains central to advancing India’s energy ambitions.
