GRSE elevates Indrajit Dasgupta to Executive Director, reshaping its top leadership

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited has announced a leadership transition, naming Cmde Indrajit Dasgupta, IN (Retd.), as Executive Director, GRSE, with effect from 23 March 2026. He will concurrently resign from the post of Chief General Manager, Production Services (NSG-30, SR& TU), with the company confirming acceptance of his resignation. The move positions a seasoned naval veteran at the helm of GRSE’s executive team as the shipbuilder steers its production and strategic agenda.

Dasgupta’s career spans a significant stretch in the Indian Navy—around 35 years—before he joined GRSE in March 2023 as Project Superintendent (FT) in the CGM (E-8) grade. At GRSE, he has been serving as Chief General Manager (Production Services) for NSG-30, SR& TU. He holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, an M.Sc in Defence and Strategic Studies, and a Master of Management Studies, credentials that align with the multi-disciplinary demands of a modern defense-shipbuilding enterprise.

Elevating Dasgupta to Executive Director signals GRSE’s intent to anchor its top leadership with maritime veterans who bring deep operational and program-management insight to the company’s complex production environment. The appointment comes as the shipyard continues to navigate a robust order book and the evolving requirements of defense platforms, calling for integrated leadership across production, systems, and strategic execution.

Dasgupta’s ascent to an executive role reinforces GRSE’s emphasis on continuity of seasoned leadership from within the organization’s naval-oriented talent pool. As GRSE presses to translate decades of frontline experience into accelerated delivery and innovative capability, the new Executive Director’s direction is likely to shape how the company balances execution with expansion in a competitive defense landscape.
