Godrej Agrovet taps policy veteran Ashok Gulati for second term as Independent Director

Godrej Agrovet Limited has tapped a familiar face from the policy circle for a second term on its board. The company’s directors approved the re-appointment of Ashok Gulati as a Non-Executive Independent Director for a term running from May 7, 2026 to May 10, 2029, with shareholders’ blessing still required. The move reinforces the board’s intent to anchor strategic governance with seasoned external insight while maintaining independence at the top table.

Gulati brings a long arc of public-policy immersion to the role. He is currently a Distinguished Professor at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) and has held influential positions across India’s agricultural policy landscape, including chairing the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and serving on boards associated with the Reserve Bank of India, NABARD and NCDEX. His broad experience spanning policy analysis, economics and governance is seen as a valuable counterweight to business perspectives at Godrej Agrovet as the company navigates agriculture value chains and rural development.

The board noted Gulati’s independence from promoters and promoter groups, underscoring his fit as a non-executive director who can provide objective oversight. Alongside the appointment, the company also approved seeking shareholder approval via postal ballot for the second-term re-appointment, signaling a continued emphasis on transparent governance and robust oversight as the company charts its next phase.
