GIPCL taps IAS officer Jenu Devan as Additional Director, signaling stronger government representation on board

Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited has named Jenu Devan, an IAS officer from the Government of Gujarat, as an Additional Director (Nominee of Government of Gujarat), with effect from 17 March 2026. The appointment, approved by the company’s board on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, reinforces state representation at the helm of GIPCL as it continues its governance and strategic oversight. The move underlines the ongoing collaboration between the state and the company in shaping energy infrastructure and policy-aligned growth.

Jenu Devan, IAS (DIN: 07852736), belongs to the 2006 batch of Ibis officers. He is presently posted as Secretary (Expenditure) in the Finance Department, Government of Gujarat. His public-sector career spans several senior roles, including District Development Officer of Dahod and Narmada, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara, and District Collector of Banaskantha. He has also served as Managing Director of the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited, and as Superintendent of Stamps and Inspector General of Registration. In recent years, he has been appointed Managing Director of Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited and Director in Gujarat Fibre Grid Network Limited, in addition to his ongoing responsibilities in the Finance Department.

The appointment signals a strategic alignment of energy governance with public administration, as GIPCL benefits from a leader with deep experience in expenditure management, policy formulation, and multi-sector governance. With Devan’s broad exposure to public projects and regulatory oversight, the board may seek to reinforce governance, financial discipline, and policy-oriented execution as it navigates the company’s expansion and operations in Gujarat’s power landscape. This development reflects a broader pattern of state-appointed directors bringing public-sector insights to state-linked utilities and infrastructure players.
