Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), the government-owned defence manufacturer under the Ministry of Defence, has appointed Commodore Sujay Kapoor (Retd) as Director (Production) on its Board, effective 6 March 2026. The move, conveyed through BDL’s communications to the stock exchanges, places a veteran naval officer with extensive hands-on experience in armament production at the helm of the company’s production agenda.
Kapoor brings over three decades of service in the Indian Navy. Prior to joining BDL, he served as Commodore (Armament Production and Indigenisation) at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi. An engineer by training with an MBA, MSc, and MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies, he has been involved in indigenisation of critical systems—ranging from anti-submarine rockets, fuzes, and launchers to missiles and torpedoes—and has spearheaded the implementation of robust quality-management systems across naval supply chains. His background blends field-level execution with strategic insight, potentially strengthening BDL’s production capabilities and its push for deeper domestic sourcing and manufacturing of defence equipment.
