Life Insurance Corporation of India has announced a leadership move aimed at strengthening its distribution architecture. Pankaj Kumar Saxena has been designated as Executive Director (Alternate Channel), Central Office, marking his progression within LIC’s senior management and signaling a continued emphasis on expanding and refining the company’s channel mix across its vast network.
Saxena joins the central office role after a long tenure with the LIC group, most recently serving as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LIC Pension Fund Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary. His career, spanning more than 35 years, has traversed both administrative and marketing corridors of LIC, with notable leadership stints in the North Central, Northern, and Central Zones. His track record includes heading sales and marketing teams, regional marketing leadership, and steering the pension fund subsidiary, positioning him to oversee the Alternate Channel in a way that aligns with LIC’s distribution ambitions.
Education and early career lay a strong foundation for the move: Saxena began as an Assistant Administrative Officer in 1990 and holds a postgraduate degree in Mathematics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management. The portfolio of roles—ranging from Manager (Sales) to Chief Manager and Regional Manager (Marketing) in key zones—reads as a blueprint for cross-functional leadership that LIC frequently leans on as it scales its customer reach. By elevating Saxena to Executive Director, LIC signals a deliberate push to leverage his in-house experience to drive growth through alternate channels while maintaining the governance and discipline expected of its senior leadership.
