Vishal Mega Mart Limited has tapped Tapan Kulshrestha to lead its supply chain as Vice President and Head, a move the retailer says underscores its push toward a more digital, end-to-end operations model. The appointment, effective April 1, 2026, comes as the company reshapes leadership in the wake of S. Raamesh stepping away from the role earlier this year. The announcement frames Kulshrestha’s arrival as a strategic upgrade to Vishal’s logistics and procurement muscle in a competitive retail landscape.
Kulshrestha arrives with more than two decades of experience spanning retail and information technology. The executive is described as a seasoned professional in end-to-end supply chain management, with expertise across procurement, distribution, warehousing, and digital transformation initiatives. His most recent role was as Head of Supply Chain (PAN India) at Trent Hypermarket Pvt. Ltd., where he steered nationwide supply chain operations.
Prior to Trent, Kulshrestha spent a substantial period at Future Retail Ltd., holding positions that included Senior Manager and Supply Chain Head for Convenience Stores such as Easy Day and Heritage, while also overseeing the Big Bazaar grocery network. Colleagues and industry observers note his track record in network expansion, process optimization, and technology-driven change, underpinned by proficiency in SAP and other enterprise systems.
Industry watchers say the appointment signals Vishal Mega Mart’s intent to accelerate its supply chain modernization—combining network scale with digital tools to improve visibility, agility, and cost efficiency. As Kulshrestha settles into the role, all eyes will be on how his hands-on leadership translates into smoother operations and a sharper competitive edge for the Rak market player.
