Uno Minda reshuffles senior leadership as three executives take new roles; board backs renewable-energy SPV investments

Uno Minda Limited has signaled a clear shift in its leadership runway, announcing an internal reshuffle of three senior executives in the aftermarket domain. Effective April 1, 2026, Rakesh Kher moves from his role as CEO-After Market Domain to Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) & Advisor-Aftermarket Domain; Vishal Kaul is elevated to CEO-Aftermarket Domain; and Vishnu Johri transitions to Chief Operating Officer (COO) for 4W Lighting and the ASEAN region. The moves underscore the company’s intent to intensify strategic execution and cross-functional leadership across its core aftermarket business.

Rakesh Kher brings more than four decades of experience in strategy, manufacturing and project management, with a longstanding association with Uno Minda since 2004. His track record includes expanding product portfolios and strengthening customer relationships in the aftermarket space, a backdrop the company will lean on as it pursues transformative growth. Vishal Kaul, a 25-plus-year veteran with leadership roles across automotive aftermarket and consumer electronics, has been serving as President & Business Head – Aftermarket Domain and is now charged with overarching executive responsibility as CEO for the same domain. His prep work at firms such as Crompton Lighting, Samsung and Nokia underpins a cross-functional leadership approach.

Vishnu Johri, moving to COO for 4W lighting and the ASEAN region, brings more than 30 years of operations and strategic leadership experience in automotive and manufacturing sectors. His career spans stints at Tata Motors, Maruti Udyog, Hero Motors, Genpact and LUMAX, where he led operational excellence and growth initiatives. Together, the leadership transitions position Uno Minda to sharpen its execution discipline in the aftermarket space while navigating regional expansion.

In addition to the leadership realignment, the board approved a strategic investment in renewable-energy SPVs to source power through wind and solar. Uno Minda Limited, along with its subsidiaries, will invest up to INR 750.20 lakhs across SPVs including Hexa Energy MH7 Private Limited (Haryana), RC Green Powers Private Limited (Tamil Nadu), Hexa Energy MH11 Private Limited, and Hexa Energy MH2 Private Limited. The framework aims to enable open-access renewable power for the group’s units, with indicative completion targeted for the second quarter of 2026-27. This move aligns with a broader push toward sustainable energy and could influence the company’s long-term cost and sustainability profile.
