CSL Finance Limited has announced a leadership reshuffle, naming Akshay Gujar as Chief Executive Officer of its SME Division, a key executive appointment that underscores the company’s push into micro, small and enterprise financing. The move signals CSL’s intent to sharpen its growth trajectory in the SME segment and reinforce its leadership in a competitive market.
Gujar brings more than a decade of experience across retail lending, secured MSME finance, microfinance and farmer finance. Before joining CSL, he led AU Small Finance Bank’s Centre of Excellence for Microfinance & Inclusive Banking, where he helped build high-quality portfolios and steered performance, risk management, and operational excellence across a sprawling branch network. His track record includes leading strategic growth initiatives, scaling secured MSME portfolios, and delivering disciplined collections through a customer-centric approach.
The executive’s background also spans stints at PwC India, the Chief Minister’s Office – Government of Maharashtra, and Willis Towers Watson, providing a blend of financial acumen, policy understanding, and leadership capabilities. Such a diverse mix positions Gujar to drive innovation, sustainable growth, and organizational transformation as CSL expands its SME and microfinance footprint.
Industry observers will be watching how Gujar’s leadership shapes CSL’s approach to SME lending, including farmer finance and related underserved segments, as the company seeks to strengthen risk-adjusted returns while broadening its reach.
