Bank of Baroda appoints Hari Har Mishra as GOI nominee director, replacing Ashish More on the board

Bank of Baroda has announced a leadership change on its board, appointing Hari Har Mishra as Government of India nominee director, effective immediately and until further notice. Mishra will fill the seat previously held by Ashish Madhaorao More, marking another step in the ongoing governance evolution of the bank’s board.

Mishra, 54, is an officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) from the 1997 batch and is presently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance. He holds a Post Graduate in Archaeology from Allahabad University and an MBA in Finance from the National Institute of Financial Management, Faridabad. Over the course of his career, he has held key roles spanning financial management, audit, vigilance, policy formulation, expenditure management and human resource development across ministries including Defence, Environment & Forests and the Ganga rejuvenation project, earning several commendations along the way.

The appointment underscores the government’s continued involvement in the governance of India’s public-sector banking sector, with Mishra bringing a mix of financial stewardship and public administration experience to Bank of Baroda’s board. His selection follows a formal nomination under the Banking Companies Act framework and reflects an emphasis on seasoned bureaucratic leadership guiding strategic oversight in a major state-backed lender.

Ashish Madhaorao More, the outgoing GOI nominee director, steps aside as Mishra steps in. The transition is described as a seamless handover that preserves GOI representation on the board, signaling continuity in governance and policy alignment as Bank of Baroda pursues its strategic objectives in a competitive financial landscape.
