Tech-law expert Prasenjeet Fadnavis named Shareholder Director at Bank of Maharashtra

Bank of Maharashtra has announced the election of Prasenjeet Shrikrishna Fadnavis as Shareholder Director, with effect from March 24, 2026, and a term extending to June 30, 2028. The appointment follows a shareholder election in which he polled a majority of votes, in accordance with applicable regulations governing the bank’s directors from among its shareholders.

Prasenjeet Shrikrishna Fadnavis is 52 and brings a multidisciplinary background spanning technology, law and education. He holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, an LLB, and a Diploma in Cyber Law, and has built a career spanning telecom, banking, cyber law, education, and rural development over more than three decades. At present, he serves as Executive Director – Corporate Relations at Dr. D. Y. Patil Business School in Pune, and has been associated with renowned institutions such as Savitribai Phule Pune University and Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University. He is also involved in social service initiatives.

The bank notes that he does not have any prior relationship with the existing directors and is not debarred from holding office by SEBI or any regulatory authority. This appointment signals Bank of Maharashtra’s willingness to enrich its board with cross-disciplinary expertise – combining technology, legal acumen and strategic stakeholder engagement – as it navigates a rapidly evolving banking landscape. As a Shareholder Director, Fadnavis is positioned to contribute a governance perspective grounded in his varied experience, potentially enhancing the board’s oversight of strategy, risk and outreach to the bank’s diverse shareholder base.
