Dredging Corporation of India Limited has named Captain S Divakar as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective March 23, 2026. The decision, approved by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Board, designates him as MD & CEO (Additional Charge) and as an Executive & Non-Independent Director. He will hold the office as an Additional Director up to the date of the next General Meeting, where shareholders will be asked to approve his regular appointment as a Non-Independent & Executive Director until he attains the age of 60, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Captain Divakar is a long-time DCI veteran who has built a career spanning more than three decades with the company. A Dredge Master Grade-I, he began his journey with DCI in 1987 as a cadet recruited under the All India Dredging Cadre (AIDC) and spent about 22 years onboard dredgers in various capacities, rising to Master of a dredger. He later shifted to shore service, contributing for around 16 years in senior management roles, giving him a unique blend of operations and techno-commercial insight that the firm seeks to leverage from the helm of leadership. In his current role, he serves as Chief General Manager and now takes on the additional charge of driving the company as MD & CEO.
The leadership move underscores DCI’s intent to maintain continuity at the top through an internal appointment that aligns seasoned operational expertise with strategic oversight. Divakar’s extended tenure within the organization positions him to steward the company through its ongoing and upcoming dredging projects, while also navigating the governance expectations that accompany a public-facing role. As DCI charts its path forward, the board and the executive suite will be watching how this internal transition translates into sustained performance and steadiness at the top.
