IIFL Finance taps Anubhav Rajput as Chief Technology Officer as Gaurav Sharma exits

IIFL Finance has a new technology baton in its hands as it reshuffles its senior tech leadership. The company disclosed that Gaurav Sharma will step down as Chief Technology Officer to explore new opportunities, with the Board approving the appointment of Anubhav Rajput as the new Chief Technology Officer effective October 1, 2026. The transition follows the prior resignation and is framed as a seamless handover to steer the company’s technology strategy in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.

Anubhav Rajput stands out as a seasoned technology leader with more than two decades of experience across India, the Middle East, and Europe. The announcement highlights his deep expertise in strategic IT transformation, cloud computing, advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven business transformation—skills the company clearly views as essential to its digital ambitions in banking and financial services. Rajput arrives from PNB Housing Finance, where he served as CIO and CTO, alongside prior leadership roles at Cholamandalam MS General Insurance and Niva Bupa Health Insurance. His academic background includes a Computer Engineering degree and an MBA with specializations in Information Management and Finance, complemented by technology leadership coursework from MIT.

Gaurav Sharma’s departure marks the end of a chapter at IIFL Finance, with the company citing his decision to pursue new opportunities. The leadership change signals IIFL’s intent to continue strengthening its technology backbone as it scales its platforms and services. In Rajput, the company is betting on a technology executive with a track record of aligning IT strategy with financial services growth, customer experience, and risk management—an alignment that could shape how IIFL competes in a crowded market over the coming years.
