Powerica strengthens board and leadership lineup with new non-exec appointment and multi-year renewals

Powerica Limited unveiled a refreshed leadership slate at its 42nd Annual General Meeting held on September 24, 2026, approving the appointment of Maheswar Sahu as a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director. The company also cemented the continuity of its executive leadership by re-appointing Renu Naresh Oberoi and Pradeep Omprakash Gupta as Whole-time Directors for a further three-year term from April 1, 2027. In addition, Udaya Shankar Jena and Sunil Godwin Lobo were re-appointed as Independent Directors for five-year terms, with their respective tenures set to begin in June 2027 and June 2027, respectively.

Mr. Sahu brings a long and varied public-sector background to Powerica’s board, including 33 years of government service and experience as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries and Mines Department. He also serves on the boards of several listed entities, including Ambuja Cements Limited and Maruti Suzuki India Limited, among others. His confirmation as an Independent-leaning non-executive presence on the board, coupled with his prior association with Powerica, is expected to contribute to governance depth and strategic oversight.

Renu Naresh Oberoi, a promoter-group member who has steered corporate and administrative functions as Whole-time Director since 2012, will continue in that role for another three-year term. Her background in fashion design and broad wind-power operations experience are aligned with Powerica’s strategic ambitions in renewable energy and corporate operations.

Pradeep Omprakash Gupta, a long-standing executive who has served as Whole-time Director since 2016 (and as Vice-President for Corporate Affairs since 2004), will also continue for another three-year horizon. With a textile-technology education and over three decades in managerial roles, Gupta oversees overall strategy, investments, and operations of the Wind Division, reinforcing Powerica’s wind-energy leadership.

Independent directors Udaya Shankar Jena and Sunil Godwin Lobo will renew their five-year terms, bringing decades of management and financial services expertise to the board. Jena, with a background in economics and experience across SBI Gilts Limited and Societe Generale, currently chairs the Audit Committee. Lobo, with a strong track record in corporate and investment banking and leadership roles in banking institutions, rounds out a governance lineup intended to bolster oversight and strategic direction for Powerica’s growth trajectory.
