Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Names Priyanka Baya as Woman Independent Director; Shalu Bhandari Completes Tenure

Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Limited’s board met on September 16, 2026 to refresh its governance lineup, announcing the appointment of Priyanka Baya as Woman Independent Director for a five-year term from September 16, 2026 to September 15, 2031, subject to shareholder approval. The move underscores the company’s ongoing focus on strengthening independent oversight at the board level as it navigates growth and governance priorities.

Concurrently, Ms. Shalu Bhandari completes two consecutive five-year terms as Woman Independent Director and shall cease to hold the post on September 16, 2026. The board extended its appreciation for her extensive contribution and stewardship, signaling a thoughtful transition as it rebalances the independent oversight framework.

Priyanka Baya brings a broad, cross-border perspective to the board. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Mohanlal Sukhadia University and is a Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary by training. With more than 25 years of experience spanning entrepreneurship, investment banking and strategic advisory, she has steered and scaled ventures across India, the USA, Singapore and the UAE. Currently, she serves as Director of Quaisar Medisoft Pvt. Ltd. and as Founder Partner & Head of Strategy at Ciera Advisors LLP, while also engaging as an investor with Inflection Point Ventures and as Co-Founder & Chief Strategist of Lemon Yellow.

In line with the leadership refresh, the board approved the reconstitution of key committees, including the Audit Committee, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, Stakeholders Relationship Committee, and Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, effective September 16, 2026. The governance refresh reflects the company’s emphasis on robust oversight and alignment with its strategic priorities as Priyanka Baya steps into the independent director role.
