Hindustan Copper Limited is reinforcing its board with an independent voice. The company informs that Madhumita Daolagupu has been appointed as an Additional Director – Part Time Non-Official (Independent) Director on the board, with effect from 14.08.2026 until the date of the ensuing Annual General Meeting. The appointment was approved by the board through a circulation resolution, signaling a deliberate move to bolster governance and independent oversight.
Daolagupu brings a long-standing track record in administration and financial management from the academic sector, underscoring HCL’s emphasis on governance credentials beyond the traditional mining remit. Born in 1963, she holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees and has spent 37 years in teaching, administration and managing financial affairs. Her leadership roles include serving as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Principal of Haflong Government College in Assam, as well as President of the Governing Body at Government Model College, Assam. In these capacities, she steered financial planning, facilities maintenance and personnel processes—experience that could inform strategic discussions on efficiency, accountability and stakeholder value at HCL.
With no family ties to current board members or key managerial personnel, and without any debarment concern, Daolagupu’s appointment reinforces Hindustan Copper’s pursuit of diverse governance perspectives. As the company navigates a landscape of dynamic commodity cycles and public accountability, an independent director with a robust background in financial stewardship may help guide prudent decisions while aligning the board’s oversight with long-term strategic aims.
