In a move that underscores CMPDIL’s focus on governance and governance oversight, Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited has intimated the appointment of Molleti Ganapathi Rao as a Non Official Independent Director on its Board. The appointment, approved by the President of India on the Ministry of Coal’s letter dated 14 August 2026, is for a three-year term, with the company moving to complete the formalities and induct him onto the board in compliance with the Companies Act, 2013 and the SEBI LODR Regulations 2015.
Molleti Ganapathi Rao arrives at CMPDIL with a long arc in public administration and governance. A retired Senior Grade Deputy Collector, he built a career spanning public revenue and land administration in Andhra Pradesh, including extensive experience in district-level governance. He also brings technical depth from his earlier work as a geophysicist, with formal training in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and geophysics, underscoring a versatile profile that straddles public policy and resource management. Rao’s background positions him to contribute a governance-focused perspective to CMPDIL’s strategic oversight.
CMPDIL’s leadership notes that Rao is not related to any existing director and is not debarred from holding office by SEBI or any other authority. His appointment signals an intention to fortify the board with independent judgment and broad public-sector experience at a time when mineral planning and design institutions are navigating complex regulatory and governance environments.
