Transrail Lighting appoints Ranjana Maitra as Independent Director to bolster governance

In a strategic move to strengthen governance, Transrail Lighting Limited announced the appointment of Ranjana Maitra as an Additional Director (Independent) effective August 13, 2026, for a three-year term, subject to member approval. The decision, taken on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, signals the company’s intent to deepen its governance depth with a seasoned cross-border leader at the board table.

Maitra brings more than three decades of leadership across international education, healthcare, life sciences, digital transformation and strategic partnerships. She is acclaimed for building large-growth ecosystems, including a notable expansion of international student enrollments, and is currently the Country Head – International Relations & Strategic Partnerships at the University of New Haven. Her past roles include Head – Healthcare & Insurance Practices at Tata Consultancy Services and Global Head – Life Sciences & General Manager, Digital Operations & Platforms (BPS) at Wipro. Beyond corporate roles, she serves in industry leadership positions, including as Chairperson of the CII Indian Women Network (Western Region) and the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce’s Western India Council.

The company notes that Maitra is not related to any existing director and is not debarred from holding office by any regulatory authority. Her appointment is expected to bring a broad lens on cross-border collaborations, technology-enabled transformation and strategic partnerships—capabilities that align with Transrail Lighting’s ambitions for governance, growth and international engagement.
