Indian Energy Exchange appoints Alok Kumar Jha as Head of Business Development (Senior Vice President)

In a move that underscores Indian Energy Exchange Limited’s growth ambitions, the company has appointed Alok Kumar Jha as the Head – Business Development (Senior Vice President), a role categorized under Senior Management, with effect from August 13, 2026. The appointment signals a strategic focus on strengthening the company’s business development capabilities as it expands its footprint in the energy markets.

Mr. Jha brings nearly three decades of leadership experience across the energy, renewable energy, power and transportation sectors. He has held senior roles at INOX Wind, GE Power, Alstom Transport, and Bombardier Transport India, where he built expertise in business strategy, project development, sales and operations, joint-venture management, and large-scale infrastructure projects. His track record includes steering business turnarounds and driving growth across renewable energy businesses—encompassing wind, solar, battery energy storage systems, and green hydrogen—and playing a pivotal part in landmark railway, power, and nuclear energy initiatives, including technology transfer and localization programs.

Educated with an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies at the University of Delhi, a B.E. in Chemical Engineering from BIT Sindri, and an Executive Leadership Program from INSEAD, Mr. Jha brings a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution to the role. His background aligns with IEX’s ambitions to broaden its value proposition in an evolving energy landscape, where renewable integration, storage solutions, and cross-sector collaborations are increasingly central.

Industry observers will be watching how his cross-sector experience translates into new partnerships, market expansion, and accelerated development of business opportunities for IEX. As the company navigates a transitioning energy economy, Jha’s mandate to drive business development from the front line could prove pivotal in shaping the exchange’s next phase of growth.
