AIS Reappoints Masao Fukami as Deputy Managing Director — Technical & CTO (Auto) for Second Term

Asahi India Glass Limited has moved to lock in leadership continuity, announcing the re-appointment of Masao Fukami as Whole Time Director and designated as Deputy Managing Director – Technical & CTO (Auto) for a second four-year term starting January 1, 2027. The appointment, approved by the board and awaiting shareholder confirmation at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting, signals AIS’s intent to keep its technology and engineering trajectory firmly on track as it expands its footprint in the automotive glass segment.

Masao Fukami, 58, is a Fine Materials Engineer from Shinshu University, Japan, who brings three decades of experience in automotive glass. Before joining AIS, he served as Nominee Director of Automotive Glass Company, Global OEM Office at Toyota Global Unit since 2017. He has consented to the re-appointment and, according to the filing, does not hold any disqualifications or debarments from holding office. His background underscores AIS’s aim to align with global automotive engineering perspectives while steering its technical roadmap.

The board’s decision follows a recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, reinforcing AIS’s emphasis on leadership stability as it pursues advanced materials and technology initiatives for its automotive glass portfolio. Fukami’s re-appointment to the executive cadre—retiring-by-rotation but continuing in a pivotal CTO and technical leadership capacity—positions AIS to leverage international experience in a rapidly evolving sector.

Shareholders will weigh the accord at the AGM, but today’s move already signals a strategic intent: to sustain AIS’s technical momentum and execution discipline under a familiar leadership voice with international exposure. As the company navigates its next growth leg, Fukami’s second term could help anchor its engineering culture and accelerate product and process innovations across its operations.
