Jindal Steel Limited is reshaping its board with the appointment of two new independent voices, as the company moves to bolster governance ahead of its next strategic chapter. The Board, following recommendations from its Nomination and Remuneration Committee, approved the appointment of Aabha Bakaya and V. Sehgal as Additional Directors in the category of Non-Executive Independent Directors for a term of two consecutive years, effective July 29, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. The move comes as the company bids farewell to two long-serving independent directors whose terms have concluded.
Aabha Bakaya brings a rich track record in financial journalism and leadership development. A senior financial news editor and entrepreneur, she is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ladies Who Lead, a network that champions women leaders in India. Her career spans senior editorial and anchoring roles across notable outlets including India Today Group/Business Today TV, ET NOW, Bloomberg TV India, NDTV Profit, CNBC TV18, and Business Today Magazine. Bakaya’s seasoned perspective on markets and storytelling is expected to enrich the board’s oversight of financial strategy and governance.
V. Sehgal steps into the boardroom with a global mandate, currently serving as a broad-based adviser to industrials and capital allocation, and as Global Head of Automotive and Executive Vice Chairman at Rothschild & Co. His background spans cross-border M&A, corporate restructuring, and transformative governance across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. He has previously held leadership roles at Booz Allen Hamilton and positions at Ford Motor Company and Daewoo Motors, complemented by degrees in engineering and an MBA from Chicago Booth. Sehgal’s global perspective and governance experience are positioned to support Jindal Steel Limited’s strategic execution and international partnerships.
In addition to these appointments, the company notes that the terms of Independent Directors Shivani Wazir Pasrich and Kanika Agnihotri completed on July 28, 2026, after serving two consecutive terms. The Board and management recorded their sincere appreciation for the guidance and contributions these directors provided during their tenure. The company reiterates its commitment to strengthening its board with independent expertise that aligns with its growth trajectory while maintaining robust governance standards.
