Atul Limited strengthens board with Vinayak Deshpande as Independent Director

Atul Limited is strengthening its governance bench with the appointment of Vinayak Deshpande as an Independent Director, effective August 1, 2026 for a five-year term. The move follows a recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and is subject to approval by the company’s members. The appointment was disclosed by the company as part of its board agenda, underscoring a concerted push to bolster independent oversight on the board.

Deshpande brings four decades of experience in industrial and building automation, large-scale infrastructure projects, engineering, procurement and construction, and end-to-end program management. He previously served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tata Honeywell and Tata Projects for more than two decades, and today he continues to contribute as an advisor to Tata Sons Ltd. An IIT Kharagpur graduate in Chemical Engineering, Deshpande also holds directorships across a broad spectrum of companies, including Kirloskar Brothers Ltd, Praj Industries Ltd, Signify Innovations India Ltd and Voltas Ltd, among others, and is connected with philanthropic and industry initiatives such as the Pune Knowledge Cluster Foundation and Talakrit Foundation.

His appointment signals Atul Limited’s intent to blend external governance insight with its strong internal leadership as the company advances its growth trajectory across its Life Science Chemicals and Performance and Other Chemicals segments. With a track record of delivering high-profile infrastructure and industrial projects, Deshpande is expected to bring a fresh, results-oriented perspective to the board as Atul navigates its strategic priorities.

The company noted that the appointment would be formalized upon member approval, as part of standard governance practice for independent directors and board composition.
