SJVN Limited, the government-backed energy major, has announced the appointment of Arti Kujur as an Independent Director on its board for a three-year term, effective July 15, 2026, by order of the Ministry of Power. The move reinforces the company’s governance framework as it continues to align with best-in-class oversight for a Navratna CPSE with joint ownership by the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
The company said a brief profile of the appointed director will be communicated in due course. It noted that Kujur is not related to any director on the board and is not debarred from holding office as a director by SEBI or any other authority. The appointment underscores the ongoing emphasis on independent oversight at the helm of SJVN’s strategic decisions and performance governance.
As SJVN navigates a rapidly evolving energy landscape, the independent director addition is being viewed as a move to bolster governance, accountability, and strategic guidance at the board level. Industry observers will be watching how this strengthening of the board’s independent voice translates into governance as the company advances its project portfolio and sustainability agenda.
