Gujarat Pipavav Port appoints Harjeet Kaur Joshi as Independent Director

Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited has appointed Harjeet Kaur Joshi as an Independent Director (Non-Executive) for a five-year term, effective July 1, 2026. The decision was taken by the Board via circular resolution and is subject to the approval of shareholders at the upcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for September 9, 2026. Joshi will also join the Company’s Audit Committee from July 1, 2026, reinforcing governance oversight at a time when the board is shaping its leadership mix for the next phase of growth.

Joshi brings more than four decades of financial leadership across diverse industries. A qualified Cost and Management Accountant with an MBA in Financial Management from Delhi School of Economics, her career spans senior finance roles at major public sector entities. She began with ONGC Videsh Limited in 1986 as a Senior Finance Executive, later rising to Head of Finance at ONGC Limited, the parent company of ONGC Videsh. In 2015, she joined Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) as Director (Finance) and became the first full-time woman Director on SCI’s board. She advanced to Chairperson and Managing Director of SCI in 2019, a tenure that continued until her superannuation in 2022, during which she steered financial restructuring and navigated the Covid period toward sustained profitability.

Her appointment signals Gujarat Pipavav Port’s continuing emphasis on seasoned, independent governance with deep financial acumen. By adding a director who has steered large public enterprises through challenging times and who has first-hand experience across finance, restructuring, and strategic repositioning, the company aims to strengthen its boardroom oversight and strategic execution as it advances its port operations and related services.
