Rallis India appoints David Francis Crean as Independent Director to bolster governance and R&D leadership

Rallis India Limited is strengthening its board with the appointment of David Francis Crean as an Additional Director in an Independent capacity. The move, approved by the board at its meeting on April 27, 2026 and recommended by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, will see Crean serve a five-year initial term from April 27, 2026 to April 26, 2031, subject to shareholders’ approval.

Crean brings more than four decades of global experience in innovation, research and development, and governance within the food sector. He spent 35 years at Mars, Incorporated, where he rose to Vice President of Corporate R&D and Chief Science Officer, overseeing the development of analytical techniques, technology platforms, and more than 70 product launches, while strengthening the company’s approach to science, food safety, and quality. He also helped establish the Mars Global Food Safety Center in Huairou, China.

Since retiring from Mars in 2021, Crean has continued to influence the sector through board roles, advisory work, and entrepreneurship. He founded STRIDE Food R&D Consultancy, serves as an Independent Director of Tata Consumer Products Limited, advises The March Group, and acts as a Science Adviser to Oatly. He has chaired the Global Food Safety Initiative’s Science and Technology Advisory Group and contributed to UN FAO/WHO-linked food safety and security forums.

Rallis India’s appointment signals a deliberate emphasis on governance and science-led strategy as the company navigates a competitive, innovation-driven market. With Crean’s deep background in food science and global product leadership, the board gains a seasoned perspective on innovation, safety, and scalable growth.
